Nice quality third-party controller with a steep price

This is a decent aftermarket, third-party controller that is designed just like the Switch Pro Controller. The buttons are responsive and have an alright feel to them but not like the first-party Pro Controller. The customizability of the controller is a neat feature that would be more useful if using as a PC controller which I don't have any use for. On the spectrum of third-party controllers, this one is much nicer than the cheap ones you find in department stores but the price pretty much defeats the purpose of a third-party controller. Normally, one uses a third-party controller as a cheap alternative to expensive first-party options however this controller is only $20 less than a first-party Switch Pro Controller. Personally, for me this is not enough savings to choose this over a first-party controller. If you wanted to use this as a controller for a PC, phone, tablet, etc., then this would be an excellent option as it does feel very similar to the Switch Pro Controller. Depending on the intended use, this is an excellent value for the price or not a very good value at all. My only usage is for the Switch, so for me this is not a good value at all but for those of you that need a PC or mobile controller you will be happy with your purchase.

Solid, Versatile Controller

This customizable pro controller is engineered for high-performance gaming across multiple platforms. Notably, it features full compatibility with both the original Nintendo Switch and the newer Switch 2, alongside Windows PC, iOS, and Android devices.Hardware Precision and BuildThe controller incorporates Hall Effect joysticks and triggers, which utilize magnetic sensors rather than physical contacts. This configuration eliminates electrical wear and prevents stick drift over time, with a rated durability exceeding 5 million cycles.Adjustable Triggers: The triggers feature a 3-level physical adjustment lock, allowing you to switch between a short hair-trigger pull for FPS games and full travel for racing acceleration.Tactile Response: The face buttons use mechanical switches backed by silicone cushioning, providing a quiet click with distinct tactile feedback.Low Latency: In wired mode, the controller operates at a 1000Hz polling rate, delivering ultra-low input latency for competitive gaming scenarios.Modular CustomizationThe physical layout is highly customizable to match different playstyles and platform layouts. It features a magnetic faceplate that pops off easily, allowing you to manually swap the physical ABXY buttons into a Nintendo-specific layout.Additionally, the package includes interchangeable 4-way and 8-way D-pads, swappable thumbsticks of varying heights, and remappable alloy back paddles. A dedicated Turbo function can also be programmed for rapid-fire inputs.Connectivity and Switch IntegrationWith Tri-Mode connectivity, the controller supports Bluetooth 5.3, a low-latency 2.4G wireless dongle, and a standard wired connection. For console players, the integrated one-key wake-up function allows you to turn on the Switch or Switch 2 remotely from the controller, facilitating a seamless reconnection process.Charging Dock and Battery LifeThe unit comes packaged with a dedicated RGB charging dock that offers a convenient drop-and-charge setup. Powered by an internal 1000mAh battery, it delivers between 9 and 30 hours of continuous gameplay depending on rumble intensity and RGB usage. A full recharge takes approximately 6 hours when docked.Overall SummaryThis pro controller is an excellent investment for players transitioning to the Switch 2 while still maintaining setups on PC or mobile. The drift-free Hall Effect components and 1000Hz polling rate ensure high precision, while the physical modularity allows the controller to be tailored to specific genres. With the added convenience of a dedicated charging dock and an integrated console wake-up feature, it is a comprehensive, future-proof control solution.

Fast Inputs, Precise Sticks, and Useful Extra Buttons

I’ve been using this Bluetooth controller with our Nintendo Switch 2 for a little while now, and I’ve been very impressed with its overall performance. The button layout uses an Xbox-style arrangement, so the A/B and X/Y positions are different from Nintendo’s layout. It works correctly on Switch and matches in-game prompts, but the muscle memory shift is real. For example, I’m used to confirming with the right-side button on Nintendo Pro controllers, but on this one the A button is on the bottom, which takes some adjustment. This really stood out when handing it off to someone else. While I was able to adjust fairly quickly, my son kept pressing the wrong button at first until he relearned the positions since his muscle memory was still based on the standard Switch Pro Controller layout.Performance is where this controller really stands out. The 1000Hz polling rate and 1ms response time make inputs feel immediate, and I actually noticed improved gameplay and response times after switching to it. The TMR magnetic joysticks are smooth and precise and showed no drift during my testing. The clicky face buttons have very little travel, helping inputs register quickly, which adds to the overall responsiveness. The adjustable trigger stops are useful for switching between full travel and a shorter pull depending on the game. The extra programmable buttons add flexibility, and the RGB lighting and charging dock are nice quality-of-life extras.Overall, this is a very responsive and feature-rich controller that feels great once adjusted to the layout differences on the Nintendo Switch. The instant input registration and precise sticks made gameplay feel more competitive for me, especially in faster-paced games.

Pro Controller Alternative

I recently got this controller and have been using it with my Switch 2 and iPad Pro. The TL;DR? It’s a great pro controller. It works as expected and I had no problems with either platform. I have used the Nintendo pro controllers and the Xbox pro controller so I was really interested in seeing how this held up.Pros:1. Connects easily. It comes with instructions that take all the guess work out but if you’ve already connected a controller to either the Switch 2 or the IPad before then it’s super easy to figure out. Just make sure you’ve got the right platform selected on the back.2. It feels really good in the hand. Ergonomic and sturdy. I really like the rumble feature. To me, it feels stronger than other after market controllers.3. All of the buttons function well. They have a nice click to them and tactile feedback. I love the modifications you can do just by shortening the trigger travel time.4. This controller comes with some great options. You’ve got extra thumb sticks, alternative d-pads and several buttons that can be programmed for PC play.5. Switching between consoles and platforms is a breeze. No re-pairing needed. Just switch the selector on the back.6. It’s made of plastic but it seems to be very durable plastic and they’ve added different grooves on the back and top to help with grip.7. It comes with a charger that doubles as a stand.Cons:1. I do feel like the thumbsticks and d-pads are a little hard to install. I was afraid I was going to break them as the plastic just clicks in and out. On the Xbox pro controller they are magnetic and I like that form factor better. That being said, they did not break and seem to be holding up well.Final thoughts: if you’re looking for a new controller and you want a premium product with premium functionality but don’t want to pay a premium price? This one is for you. It just works. I’m a casual gamer myself but I think most players would be happy with this.

Really nice game controller for PC

The media could not be loaded.

I'm a pretty big PC gamer, but I prefer console type controllers as they fit my hand better than the cheap bluetooth ones. I've used a bunch of "premium" controllers over the years and, while the DualSense and Series X are pretty great for PC, I want something with a few more features. I've been using 8bitdo Ultimate 2's recently and have enjoyed them, but this one from Aolion is even better. At first glance, the styling is pretty awesome. I really like the techy, partial-transparent vibe going on. You can see the haptic motors and white inner shell inside that really adds a cool dimensionality to the controller. The LED's add a good bit of flare and are fairly bright. Changing the LED's is a little counter intuitive, but once you know the button combo, it's pretty easy (see below)."Press view + D-pad down/up to change the effects solid, breathing, off. Press View + D-pad left/right to cycle through the colors. Press View + left stick up/down to change the brightness."Functionally, I love the asymmetrical Xbox style layout. This controller feels GREAT in my hands. It's a bit beefier and slightly (1oz) heavier than my trusty Ultimate 2. The buttons themselves are nice and clicky but not loud and annoying. The curved D-pad is exactly like the Xbox Elite controller, but if you prefer a traditional cross-shaped D-pad, it comes with it and can be swapped out. Speaking of swapping out, it comes with extra joysticks if you manage to rub down or damage the built in sticks. Very nice.My only real complaint is the sheer number of buttons. There are the standard buttons, a number of face buttons, the 4 shoulder buttons, and 4 additional programmable buttons. I accidentally programmed one to the quick chat in Rocket League and it started spamming "What a Save!" Ugh. oops. User error to be sure.Overall, I'm very happy with this controller and I might pick up a second one in a different color.

Amazing controller for does who like mapping theirs!

I really like this controller, but I do have a few issues with it. First, they sent me the wrong color. I ordered the white one and received the translucent gold version instead. It's not a bad looking controller by any means, but it wasn't the one I wanted. The other issue was Bluetooth on PC. I spent almost an entire day trying to get it connected with no luck at all. If you're planning to use this on a PC, just use the included dongle and save yourself the headache. Once I switched to the dongle, everything worked much better. Now for the good stuff. When it comes to consoles, this thing is awesome. Pairing is insanely fast, probably one of the quickest wireless controllers I've used. It also has a ton of mappable buttons, which is great if you like customizing your controls. I was also surprised by how much you can swap and customize, including the D pad and other components. The RGB lighting is another nice touch, and being able to change the colors makes it even better. One feature I thought was really cool is that you can even change the faceplate. The only thing I wish they had done was include an extra one in the box. It feels like a missed opportunity since customization is clearly one of the biggest selling points of this controller. As for the charging dock, I probably won't be using it much. There is nothing wrong with it, but I'm so used to plugging in a USB C cable that it's just easier for me.Overall, despite the color mix up and the Bluetooth issues on PC, I really like this controller. It feels great in the hands, has a ton of customization options, and pairs incredibly fast on consoles. If you're someone who likes tweaking and personalizing your controller, there is a lot here to like.

Smooth, Responsive, and Drift-Free

I've been using this controller for about a week, mostly for FPS and action games on PC, and it's quickly become my favorite controller. The Hall Effect joysticks feel smooth and precise, especially when making small aiming adjustments. I haven't noticed any drift issues so far, which was one of the reasons I decided to try it.The 1000Hz polling rate also makes the controller feel very responsive. Inputs register instantly and everything feels tight during gameplay. I started using the back paddles after a few days and now I honestly don't want to go back to a controller without them. Being able to map common actions to the back makes gameplay feel much more comfortable.Overall, it feels like a premium controller without the premium price tag, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a versatile gaming controller.

A great customizable drift-free controller!

This AOLION controller is more proof that most OEM controllers are overpriced.Positives:- Hall Effect joysticks and triggers provide smooth, precise control with no drift and excellent durability (rated for over 5 million cycles)- Mechanical face buttons with good tactile feedback and satisfying clicks- Highly customizable modular design; magnetic faceplate, swappable ABXY layout, interchangeable D-pads, different height thumb sticks, and remappable back paddles- 1000Hz polling rate in wired mode for very low latency and responsive gameplay- Excellent build quality and ergonomics; feels solid, premium, and comfortable for long sessions- Tri-mode connectivity (Bluetooth 5.3, 2.4G dongle, and wired) with fast pairing on consoles- Works well across PC, Nintendo Switch/Switch 2, iOS, and Android- Adjustable trigger stops (3 levels) for short or full travel- Includes a convenient RGB charging dock for easy drop-and-charge- Good battery life (9–30 hours depending on rumble and lighting usage)- M1/M2 buttons are in a unique location that, for me, are difficult to accidently press... perfect for high action games where you may tend to grip the controller hard and accidently press standard M1/M2 buttons that are in the grips.Negatives:- Bluetooth connectivity on PC can be unreliable depending on system; use the included dongle- Swapping thumb sticks and D-pads feels a bit fiddly and requires careful handling (click-in mechanism). AOLION should change these out in a revision and use magnets instead.Considerations:- No extra faceplate included despite heavy emphasis on customizationOverall:- A well-built, highly customizable pro-style controller with excellent Hall Effect components, strong multi-platform support, and thoughtful features like adjustable triggers and a charging dock- Minor drawbacks include occasional PC Bluetooth issues and slightly fiddly modular parts, but overall it delivers premium performance and versatility at a good priceIn Closing:- Highly recommended for players who want a drift-free, feature-rich controller that works across modern platforms without the high cost of official first-party optionsThis review is for "Aolion gaming K20 Tri-Mode Wireless Controller for Switch 2/Switch/Switch OLED/PC, Hall Effect Joysticks Gamepad with 1000Hz Polling, 3-Stage Hall Triggers, RGB Charging Dock, Detachable Back Buttons"
